Yes, they exist, the music critics who can't really contain their euphoria about what they've heard and often overshoot the mark with their praise. Whether this also applies to the criticism of De-Phazz is something you have to decide for yourself. I am only providing you with information about an electronic jazz band that was founded in Heidelberg in 1997.
Ja, es gibt sie, die Musikkritiker, die ihre Euphorie über Gehörtes nicht so wirklich im Zaum halten können und dann mit dem verteilten Lob oft über das Ziel hinausschießen. Ob dies nun auch für die Kritik an De-Phazz zutrifft, müsst ihr selbst entscheiden. Ich versorge euch ausschließlich mit Informationen über eine Elektronik-Jazz-Formation, welche 1997 in Heidelberg gegründet wurde.
Many jazz lovers call it almost a blessing that Germany's best-known, unknown musical export still exists at all. 25 years of cohesion – a rather unusual phenomenon in the music scene. What always comes to the fore in terms of De-Phazz's playing are their consistently applied grooves, the admixture of soul and, of course, the fun that is transmitted to the audience.
Viele Jazz-Liebhaber bezeichnen es fast wie einen Segen, dass es Deutschlands bekanntesten unbekannten Musikexport überhaupt noch gibt. 25 Jahre Zusammenhalt – ein in der Musikszene eher unübliches Phänomen. Immer wieder in den Vordergrund gerückt, was das Spiel von De-Phazz angeht, sind ihre konsequent eingesetzten Grooves, die Beimischung von Soul und natürlich der Spaß, der an die Hörerschaft übertragen wird.
It all started with the album "Detunized Gravity", which featured the track "The Mambo Craze". This piece of music history not only found its way into dozens of lounge samplers, but editors loved to use it as background music for lifestyle or fashion programmes. From then on, De-Phazz travelled the world.
All das begann mit dem Album "Detunized Gravity", auf dem der Track "The Mambo Craze" zu finden war. Dieses Stück Musikgeschichte fand nicht nur Einzug in Dutzende von Lounge-Sampler, sondern wurde von Redakteuren liebend gerne genutzt, um Lifestyle- oder Modesendungen zu unterlegen. Von da an ging es für De-Phazz um die ganze Welt
So it doesn't seem surprising to me that many people in Germany know the music but not the name of the band. Outside the German borders, things are quite different. It is even claimed that De-Phazz is the most successful music brand "Made in Germany".
For their performances, the band has access to a repertoire of 10 albums.
On the jazz matinee stage we thus find: Pat Appleton and Karl Frierson - vocals, Bernd Windisch - bass and electronics, Marcus Bartelt - baritone saxophone and flute, Ulf Kleiner - piano, Oli Rubow - drums/percussion.
Daher scheint es mir nicht verwunderlich, wenn in Deutschland zwar viele die Musik, aber nicht den Namen der Band kennen. Außerhalb der deutschen Grenzen sieht das ganz anders aus. Es wird sogar behauptet, De-Phazz sei die erfolgreichste Musik-Marke “Made in Germany”.
Für ihre Auftritte kann die Band auf ein Repertoire von 10 Alben zugreifen.
Auf der Jazz-Matinee-Bühne finden wir somit: Pat Appleton und Karl Frierson – Vokals, Bernd Windisch – Bass und Elektronik, Marcus Bartelt – Bariton-Saxofon und Flöte, Ulf Kleiner – Piano, Oli Rubow – Schlagzeug/Perkussion.
