Here's my entry for this edition of the CCC's Street Art Contest #152 with a new mural created at the last Mural Festival by Shalak Attack. It brings a bit of color to the street, especially with this gray sky.

Voici mon entrée pour cette édition du CCC's Street Art Contest #152 avec une nouvelle murale réalisée lors du dernier Mural Festival par Shalak Attack. Cela met un peu de couleurs dans cette rue, surtout avec ce ciel gris.

Shalak Attack

Based in Toronto, Shalak Attack is a Canadian artist of Chilean origin. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University (Montreal) and studied at the School of Fine Arts at the Benito Juarez Autonomous University of Oaxaca (Mexico). After graduating, she moved to Brazil with an NGO that uses art to prevent delinquency among young people in favelas. For almost 20 years, she painted murals all over the world with her partner Smoky, with whom she forms Los Clandestinos. Her colorful world is linked to the tradition of South American muralism: animal spirits, the sacred nature of Pachamama...

Installée à Toronto, Shalak Attack est une artiste canadienne d'origine chilienne. Elle a obtenu une licence en arts plastiques à l'université Concordia (Montréal) et a étudié à l'école des Beaux-Arts à l'université autonome Benito Juarez de Oaxaca (Mexique). Après ses études, elle est partie au Brésil avec une ONG qui utilise l'art pour prévenir la délinquance chez les jeunes des favelas. De plus près 20 ans, elle a peint des fresques murales dans le monde entier avec son partenaire Smoky avec qui elle forme Los Clandestinos. Son univers coloré est lié à la tradition du muralisme sud-américain : esprits des animaux, nature sacrée Pachamama...

The mural produced during the Mural Festival is entitled: "Baby Hummingbird feeds on Mother flower. We are Earth." It's a tribute to all Earth's mothers. A superb, colorful mural, it's as if a bit of South America had come and stuck to a Montreal wall. Better than the previous mural, in a completely different style (photo below).

La murale produite pendant le Mural Festival est intitulée : "Baby Hummingbird feeds on Mother flower. We are Earth." (Un bébé colibri se nourrit de la fleur Mère. Nous sommes la Terre). C'est un hommage à toutes les mamans de la Terre. Superbe murale très colorée, c'est comme si un peu d'Amérique du Sud était venu se coller sur un mur Montréalais. Mieux que la murale précédente, style complétement différent :

Danae Brissonnet

Last year, I was a little disappointed to have missed the show that went with the mural by Danaé Brissonnet. Fortunately, the show was repeated this year, an opportunity I didn't miss this time. You can check out StreetArt #525 for more photos of the mural and information about the artist.

L'année dernière, j'avais été un peu déçu d'avoir raté le spectacle qui allait avec la murale faite par Danaé Brissonnet. Heureusement, le show a été repris cette année, occasion que je n'ai pas manqué cette fois-ci. Vous pouvez aller voir StreetArt #525 pour avoir plus de photos de la murale et d'informations sur l'artiste.

For this show, a few elements were added to the mural to bring it to life, with two big eyes, a mouth and a few characters walking around in front of it. Quite a crazy universe, with a group of musicians to liven things up. Interesting to see the world of Danaé Brissonnet come alive like this.

Pour ce spectacle, quelques éléments ont été ajoutés à la murale pour que celle-ci prenne vie avec deux gros yeux, une bouche et quelques personnages se promenant devant. Un univers assez fou avec un groupe de musicien pour animer le tout. Intéressant de voir l'univers de Danaé Brissonnet s'animer comme cela.

At the end of the show, the children danced with the troupe of artists. Really fun... I didn't understand the story, but was that really the point of the show? A first for me to see a mural come to life.

A la fin du spectacle, les enfants dansaient avec la troupe d'artistes. Vraiment fun... je n'ai pas compris l'histoire mais était-ce vraiment le point de ce spectacle. Une première fois pour moi de voir une murale prendre vie.
