Today we're taking a break from the Street Art festival Under Pressure in Montreal to visit the Legal Wall De Rouen. There are always interesting works to see, as in this month of June, such as this great portrait done by Mart.

Aujourd'hui, nous faisons une pause du festival Street Art Under Pressure qui se déroule à Montréal pour aller visiter le Mur Légal De Rouen. Il y a toujours des œuvres intéressantes à voir comme en ce mois de juin comme ce magnifique portrait réalisé par Mart.

WHERE

On rue de Rouen at railway level in Montreal. Just a reminder: Mur légal Rouen is a place where artists can draw in peace, as the activity is permitted by the city. The red lines on the map represent other walls where Street Art can be found.

Sur le rue de Rouen au niveau de la voie de chemin de fer à Montréal. Juste pour rappel Mur légal Rouen est un endroit ou les artistes peuvent dessiner en toute tranquillité car l'activité est permise par la Ville. WHO

At the beginning of June, many artists are practicing on these walls, with works appearing and disappearing very quickly. By scratching away, we can go back in time and do some StreetArt archaeology, a new field of study 😀.

En ce début du mois de juin, de nombreux artistes s'exercent sur ces murs, les œuvres apparaissent et disparaissent très rapidement. En grattant, on pourrait remonter dans le temps, faire de l'archéologie StreetArt 😀.

We start with an unknown artist, perhaps JP with this portrait in a beautiful purple gradient. And I'm sure if we could remove it, we'd find letters done by Alors underneath.

Nous commençons avec un artiste inconnu, peut-être JP avec ce portrait avec un beau dégradé de violet. Et je suis sûr que si on pourrait l'enlever, on retrouverait en dessous un lettrage réalisé par Alors.

Rush (?)

On the two walls of the viaduct, the artist Rush has left two great works with these portraits in an interesting style. This is the first time I've seen this artist in Montreal. I couldn't find any information about him, maybe he's just passing through Montreal, just the indication "West Coast", maybe from Vancouver or further south on the Pacific.

Sur les deux murs du viaduc, l'artiste Rush a laissé deux magnifiques œuvres avec ces portraits dans une style intéressant. C'est la première fois que je vois cet artiste à Montréal. Je n'ai pas trouvé d'information à son sujet, peut être de passage à Montréal, juste l'indication "West Coast", peut-être de Vancouver ou plus au sud sur le Pacifique.

Neron

I'm not 100% sure if this lettering was by Neron, a Montreal-based artist, usually there's always a goofy character with her letters.

Je ne suis pas sûr à 100% que ce lettrage a été par Neron, artiste basée à Montréal, généralement il y a toujours un personnage un peu loufoque.

Mart

Here's my favorite piece with this portrait by Mart aka Marine, a Montreal-based artist and illustrator. She describes this portrait as "this feeling of loosing control of your body, when the brain is burning..." (source: Instagram).

Voici mon œuvre préférée avec ce portrait de Mart aka Marine, artiste et illustratrice basé à Montréal. Elle décrit cette portrait comme "cette sensation de perdre le contrôle de son corps, lorsque le cerveau brûle..." (source : Instagram).

Adida Fallen Angel

Adida Fallen Angel is a regular artist on this Legal wall who likes to display Love on the walls. This Love looks a lot like the work of Robert Indiana, with his Love sculpture, very Pop-Art.

Adida Fallen Angel est un artiste habitué de ce mur Légal qui aime à afficher Love sur les murs. Ce Love ressemble beaucoup au travail de Robert Indiana, avec sa sculpture Love, très Pop-Art.

Aldarwin

Right next door, we find Aldarwin Hernadez Garcia, a Mexican artist based in MTL. It's a pity for the photo that one part was in the shade and another lit up by the morning sun. I love his world of little men protecting their homes from colorful animals.

Juste à côté, on retrouve Aldarwin Hernadez Garcia, artiste mexicain installé en ville. Dommage pour la photo qu'une partie se trouvait à l'ombre et une autre éclairée par le soleil matinal. J'aime beaucoup son univers avec ces petits bonhommes qui protègent leur maison de monstres colorés.

Faced with these animals, their swords seem rather fragile. The outcome of the fight seems inevitable. / FR : Face à ces animaux, leurs épées semblent plutôt fragiles. L'issu du combat semble inévitable.

Unknown

I don't think it's Aldarwin, but he must have invited a friend to paint with him another animal ready to annoy the little guys and their house. / FR : Je ne pense pas qu'il s'agit d'Aldarwin, mais il a dû inviter un ami pour peindre avec lui un autre animal prêt à embêter les petits bonhommes et leur maison.

We move on to the other side of the street, with fewer works, but interesting nonetheless. / FR : On passe de l'autre côté de la rue, moins d'œuvres mais quand même intéressantes.

Penar & Polographe

On the left is a lettering by Penar with Polographe, video game art director and artist, next to it. This is a tribute to the Mamie du Main painted during the last Mural Festival.

Sur la gauche, on retrouve un lettrage de Penar avec à côté Polographe, directeur artistique dans les jeux-vidéos et artiste. Il s'agit d'un hommage à la Mamie du Main peinte pendant le dernier Mural Festival.

3Clo5

Claudia Guindon aka 3Clo5 also seems to have been influenced by the magic mushroom store (Funguyz) that tried to set up shop in Montreal during the summer with these psychedelic mushrooms.
