Back to Home

That old lady was not wrong, in my home they were waiting for me with open arms and with the same love as always, I told her about all the work I had done there and they did not reproach me anything, here I am working, I have what I need, without many luxuries, but I am in my home; Today I look back and I can say that making the decision to emigrate led me to make the biggest mistake of my life.

The Lucky Elephant

After changing into her nightgown, she lay in bed staring up at the rosewood ceiling tiles; her eyes tracing the four corner shapes that came together creating a new shape in the middle. An unusual gust of wind outside caused the curtains on her bed crown canopy to softly sway. The same gust came through the other open window, blowing the candle flame on the Lucky Elephant abruptly to its side; almost blowing it out. Then it came back up, and continued to gently flicker among a pool of melted white wax. Ada was oblivious to this, since her view was blocked by the broad two-door armoire standing against the wall between the two windows; one of its elaborately whittled walnut doors left open.

Optical Illusion

Zuri and Nakia held hands. They began to walk around in astonishment. It was a feeling they could not explain. They halted when they came to the place where an elephant stood magnificent and proud. They recognized it from the imprints on the hatch. They were both startled at first but soon came to sense its calm spirit. The elephant began to walk away and they followed. It then stopped, lowered its trunk to them, and like a forklift, they ascended its back. The feeling was a rush. The elephant took them on a joyful walk around the rhapsodic paradise they had just discovered. For the first time, they say what part of nature looked like.

My Dream

image.png

My dream was interesting to Sara. She laughed so hard at my dream. I told her she should never tell anyone about this dream. That it should remain our little secret. When I finished telling Sara about my dream, I had a bad feeling because I just became friends with Sara. I knew nothing about her. I didn't know what kind of person she was. Later, I found out my intuition was right, that I shouldn't have trusted her with my secret.

The final wish of Tony

“Would you still be my parents when I am reborn?” Tony asked further.

“You will always be our boy, Tony, you will be fine. The doctor said you need a small operation, and you will be very fine afterwards." Tony’s dad managed to speak reassuringly as he tried to feign his fears.

“Can I be reborn as an elephant in my next life?” Tony’s voice was almost inaudible, yet he had a broad smile on his face. “My teacher told me elephants live very long and are strong. I would use my trunk to carry people for long distances and even play with children by splashing water on them from my trunk.” Tony continued to bewilder his parents with a broader smile on his face.

The Last Fall

Where did the streets go? He was preoccupied with the gnawing of his stomach and removing his clothes, and opening the closet to put on a clean pyjama instead of the one that was soaked with nightmares from last night, but to his astonishment, he did not find any clothes in the closet, and even the papers he used to stack on the shelf disappeared. What surprised him the most, and caused him fear and terror, is that the streets that disappeared from the city were neatly arranged in his closet.

Naked, he placed his right foot in the closet, trying to control his nerves, and when his foot settled on one of the streets, he quickly put his other foot. The street was completely empty, without houses on either side, no cars, and no humans coming and going, only fruit-bearing trees lazily following it, and a river waving at its end.

The Writer and His Creation

image.png

Sitting in front of the machine, his curiosity compelled him to give it a go. Gripping a brand new paper, he delicately inserted it into the typewriter's rollers and began clicking away.

Initially, he was out of words to write, as though the typewriter was leery of granting him passage through its inner workings. Yet steadily, with every clack, manuscript pages accumulated until he had several in a row - all within what felt like no time at all!

As he read the words that had gotten away from him, it became quite apparent to him that a curious phenomenon was unfolding. The figures he had fashioned in ink were becoming physical right before his own very eyes.
