Lords of Death

Cordam stared at her. “Then could we stop wasting time, and let me see it?”

The screen at the end of the room lit up with a view of the northern sky. A section was circled. Within it, some of the stars appeared to have tails. “The highlighted areas contain craft of unknown origin. The angle and rate of deceleration indicates that this system, and we assume this planet, is the target.”

Cordam cut in. “Let me guess. They started out in the ‘Fingers of God’ constellation.” He looked round and one of the officers nodded. Cordem continued. “I hoped it would not happen, but I’m not surprised, and the time scale fits.”

Where is April?

“When you are done crying, let yourself out.” April said to Jacob as she turned to return to sleep, since she had no anger left in her for a fight.

“We used to be happy April, I thought you loved mom, what changed?” Jacob questioned as he wiped the tears off his face and pulled himself together.

Like Jacob's question hit a nerve, April paused halfway to her room, turned back and walked aggressively back to Jacob. “No! You used to be happy Jacob, you used to be happy with mom.”

My first job is...

image.png

The world vanished in a haze of pain and despair. When I opened my eyes, I was on the floor, face up, unable to move. "I can't move, my arm is unresponsive, and my legs are numb. With the suitcase and spotlights shattered, the suitcase cushioned the fall. Tears welled up, I felt no pain but cried from helplessness. During the short trip to the hospital, I thought about my family, work, school, and my limbs.

Change of plans

"That sister of mine is very stubborn, she doesn't trust anyone else, not even you, you are her niece, and you have prepared yourself to work as a pastry cook. She thinks we are going to take away her most precious asset. Whether she wants it or not, you are also the owner".

"You know mom that I am there because I like working as a pastry cook and I don't want to take that away from my aunt. But right now she needs help and so does the bakery".

"You are very noble daughter, I hope she understands and accepts it".

Stranger in the Village

image.png

"You fit dance? (can you dance?)" she asked me.

“Ah, I fit try (I can try),” I replied, standing up and joining her. Although I felt awkward at first. But as the drummers picked up the rhythm, I let go of myself and moved to the rhythm of the music.

I walked over to Ada and dragged her up. And with that, we danced and laughed till we were tired. Our earlier discomfort with village life melting away. Our feet finding their rhythm. For a moment, we forgot about hating the place.

The cat and the three witches

image.png

Image made by Ideogram.Ai

I am a cat, with four legs and a long tail. A black one. So true that the sky is blue and despite what people think, I don't bring bad luck, I attract it. My life has always been surrounded by unfortunate events. But I have not always been a cat. I used to be a stool, a broom, a teapot, and if I remember correctly, a boy who used to wander in the woods, trying to do as little as possible.

Yes, I know, I was lazy. In my defense, I hated going to school; sitting in a chair for more than 4 hours was torture and on top of that, I was easily distracted. Sitting at my desk, I used to look out of the classroom window and watch the birds coming and going, flying free, doing whatever they pleased. While I was still there, bored, learning the letters of the alphabet and numbers, again.
